Assessment of the initial situation

The first thing to do in order to head towards the set goal, as it goes without saying, is to assess your current situation, both in terms of body composition, and with regard to more purely athletic needs (post-training recovery and needs for particular substances). More specifically, by analysing one’s current body composition, one will have the possibility, by periodically taking data, to have feedback on the progress of the dietary programme both in progress, so as to be able to adjust the diet where required, and at the end of the protocol. This is of great importance. Particularly important is the warning to avoid referring to totally subjective parameters (which for some may be at odds with the recommendations provided by medical science) or to body weight alone which, although, as we shall soon see, very important for measuring body composition, is absolutely insufficient for an accurate analysis. At this preliminary stage, it is also important to get an idea of what one can expect from a dietary protocol. Indeed, some people may find it more difficult than others to change their body composition. This is mainly due to the lifestyle one observed as a child and one’s history of unhealthy eating habits.
