The yerba mate is a plant whose leaves are consumed. The main active ingredient is mateine, but it contains as many as 196 compounds that are activated once they enter the body.
Function
Mateine promotes lipid oxidation. Unlike thermogenics such as caffeine, it does not increase calorie consumption particularly significantly, but may facilitate lipid disposal with protein and glycogen retention in the context of a slimming diet.
Negative notes
Yerba mate has no significant side effects. On the contrary, instead of increasing the heart rate, as most thermogenics do, it decreases it.
Form and dosage
Yerba mate is marketed in various forms, from tablets to ready-to-drink drinks (sometimes even in cans). It is also possible to buy it (also in herbal shops) in its most natural form, i.e. in small leaves with which to make an infusion. To prepare it, it is necessary to heat water and, when it starts to boil, remove it from the heat source and immerse the yerba mate in it. After leaving it to infuse for a few minutes, filter and drink. As far as dosage is concerned, the most effective dosage is between 500 and 1500mg/day, distributed regularly in two or three doses, preferably before meals. Although mateine is not subject to the same problems as caffeine, it is still advisable to start with the minimum dosage and then, if it lacks effectiveness, to increase it. Taking it in the morning as soon as you wake up could amplify its beneficial effects.
