We have already met this supplement in the section on thermogenics. That section investigated the thermogenic effect of catechins as the main active substances in green tea and, more specifically, EGCG, the main catechin. Catechins, however, do not only have an influence on metabolic activity; they also have the ability to inhibit the lipases responsible for fat digestion. By hindering the process of fat digestion, they obviously also prevent its absorption and subsequent storage. Of course, and more simply, the same effect could be achieved simply by reducing the fat intake in the diet. As far as side effects, form and dosage are concerned, the reader is referred to the part on green tea in the section on thermogenics.
