Chromium

The most important substance for controlling insulinemia is chromium. As already introduced when discussing nutrients, chromium is a micronutrient. It is contained in various foods, including meat, shellfish, fish, eggs, whole grains, dried fruit, some fresh fruits and some vegetables.

Function

In the micronutrient part of the work, it was also discovered that chromium affects insulin activity. The mechanism of action is not known with certainty, but it is assumed that it binds to both insulin and its target cells by facilitating their communication.

Negative notes

Trivalent chromium, i.e. dietary chromium, is potentially toxic only at very high dosages, which are difficult to achieve through diet or supplementation.

Form and dosage

Chromium is mostly available on the market in tablet form. Research that has shown a positive effect on the slimming process indicates an intake of between 400 and 600mcg (micrograms), preferably at high-carbohydrate meals.
